Aaron Arsenault Cancer Support Fundraiser
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to learn
about my brother and consider financially supporting his fight against Cancer. My brother Aaron was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer in summer of 2021. We initially thought it was an esophageal stricture, but a biopsy determined it was Cancer. Aaron started radiation treatments to fight back against the Esophageal Cancer. After a normally scheduled treatment, he had to be transferred to the emergency room due to dehydration. He explained he was having non-stop headaches that lasted days and were affecting his vision. The doctor ordered a CT scan and they saw a mass on his brain that was 2-3cm of growth. We were told he was now diagnosed as Stage 4; the cancer had metastasized from the Esophagus to the brain and lymph nodes. He had brain surgery to have the mass removed on June 29th. The tumor removal was successful, and a spinal tap was conducted to check spinal fluid. That thankfully came back negative. Aaron began radiation on his chest and head after being discharged from the hospital for the second time. He also had to wear a chemotherapy device that provided a constant flow of chemotherapy to help his body fight. This was a 6-week treatment plan to fight aggressively against the cancer. At the end of the treatment plan, we were told that there does appear to be some shrinking of the Esophageal cancer. Currently Aaron is receiving Immunotherapy that attacks the protein that causes the tumors to grow. He struggles to stay comfortable due to the stent in his esophagus that allows him to eat some solid foods. Helping us raise the funds to pay for the PET scan out of cost will allow us to see a full body scan and not just a targeted chest CT scan. Insurance has denied it as they have told him he has already had a PET scan. It is frustrating as we have no insight as to how his brain is doing or the rest of his body outside of his chest area. Our family is very private, and we are not one to ask for help. Right now, I am doing everything I know to help my brother and I thought this would be a way to help him medically, as well as financially, as he currently is unable to work. (He tried, but his body wouldn't let him.) Any amount would be a tremendous help, there is no worse feeling than being unable to help and watching a loved one go through this. We want to show him that he isn't alone in this fight.
