Zamora's Child Life Services Impact Fund
To our family and friends,
We appreciate all the prayers, flowers, phone calls, and visits from you since Zamora’s courageous battle with Osteosarcoma came to an end on June 27, 2024. Her Light touched so many people and of all walks of life. If you've met her once, you'll know her for a lifetime.
On May 18, 2021, our little Warrior Princess was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in her right leg just above her knee. Over this three-year journey, our daughter and sister patiently persevered through countless needle pricks, numerous X-rays, CT scans, MRIs and eight surgeries that included the amputation of her right leg. Although the cancer conquered her body, it never touched her mind nor her spirit. To the very end, Zamora remained a happy, well-balanced 10-year-old who enjoyed learning, playing, dancing, and helping others. Osteosarcoma didn’t define her. It was just a matter of fact.
Zamora’s medical journey was tough and challenging but it never felt burdensome. Thanks in part to Joe DiMaggio Childrens Hospital’s Child Life Professionals (like Samantha Utter) and their service partners: Gilda’s Club South Florida, Freedom Waters, and N.I.C.K./ Camp Boggy Creek. Zamora actively awaited her visit gifts; thrived in the in-hospital Music, Yoga, Art, Educational Programs; and enjoyed the unique life experiences (Florida Panther 2024 Stanley Cup Finals tickets, Marlin Club tickets, Disney On Ice, and much more) afforded to her via JDCH and partners. Zamora was never overwhelmed about “being sick”. In fact, she was relatively unfazed by her diagnosis as she eagerly anticipated the next adventure or camp.
Therefore, in memory of Zamora and to thank the teams that took care of her, we ask that you donate to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital Foundation which provides quality care for kids and families. The various Child Life experiences were a highlight for Zamora, and we know that she would want other kids in this battle to have similar positive experiences as well.
Your generosity can help families like ours experience joy in otherwise painful moments. Please contribute and share this with your contacts to encourage them to do the same!
Thank you in advance for your support!
