Amplified Musculoskeletal Pain Syndrome Fundraiser
December 10, 2021 Halle was diagnosed with AMPS (Amplified Musculoskeletal Pain Syndrome). While being diagnosed with any medical condition is scary, it was actually a blessing to finally put a name to something that had wreaked so much havoc with her health and well-being. What was at one time a feeling of helplessness, was at once a feeling of hope, with a treatment plan.
The pain associated with AMPS is said to be some of the worst around. It was described to us that the slightest touch or movement could fee like a flamethrower to her shoulder. Halle missed 42 days of school. She spent more than 16 weeks in Physical Therapy. She couldn't ride in a car, wear a shirt with sleeves, shower, comb her hair, or do anything at all.
We are so thankful to Dr. Meister from Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital for her expertise, compassion, and ability to help us navigate our way through this. Physical Therapist Jessica Engle and Nicole Limpaband also deserve so much credit for somehow being able to build trust while forcing Halle fight through therapy.
If you have seen Halle lately, you wouldn't know she had been through this and for that we will forever be grateful. All funds donated here will go directly to Dr. Meister's efforts and her team's efforts to help others get past this terrible, and confusing syndrome.
